Creaking driver side door

I want to get rid of my creaking driver side door, well just the creaking, not the door, lol. It appears especially in summer time with hotter temperatures. It takes a couple of minutes driving, before one can notice it.
I mentioned it several times at my dealerships...they never got rid of it...probably cuz they wouldn't hear it when test driving.
Anyone else with a creaking door (sounds like metal on metal, around the lock area)? Even more important: Anyone with a DIY cure? Thank you!

I love the look of the Fuchs style wheels on your car :-)

When I have the window down, there is a creaking sound on my driver's door. Try putting a bit of grease on the chrome U latch in the door sill, that takes care of my noise.

I think the Porsche mechanics did that, putting grease on the U latch. It seems to work for a while, but it is not a lasting solution somehow. I always thought adjusting the U latch a milimeter might help, but then wondered why the mechanics are not doing it.

It's funny, well not really, but funny in the sense that it's only my driver side door that creaks. Maybe it gets used a lot more, who knows. Anyway, the only way I have found to get rid of it is to periodically grease it. I tried loosening the U-clamp and closing the door hoping that it would find it's natural spot to no avail. Over time the hinges have probably worn ever so slightly and everything is a little looser than they were. Twenty years is a long time.

If anyone finds a solution would sure like to hear about it.

Has anyone tried replacing the U-clamp, or the latch?

on 996's and I am sure on the 986, the door can come in contact with the door frame right near where your have your red arrow. look for rubbing in that area. I have seen some with paint rubbed off there. then try a piece of clear bra or similar product there.
