Because the jack you have is 30 years old it was built when quality meant something .......... hence it lasted 30 years . You should be able to either rebuild it yourself or have it rebuilt by a hydraulic shop . You get to save the memories , keep an item out of the landfill and have a quality piece for another 30 years . Plenty of You tube videos out there explaining the rebuild process .
