Replacing Ignition Lock

I am looking for a website that can show me how to remove and replace the
ignition lock on my 2001 Boxster S.

The key side? All you need is a paper clip. Put the key in, turn it to the on position, slide the straightened clip into the hole and thats it.http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17.../ignition1.jpg
Been there

Ohio, Say i were replacing the ignition peice that all the wire clip onto...not the tumblers, just the peice with wires pluging into it...would that method work that you discribed?

No, you need to attack that switch from under the dash. You need to take a piece of the duct work out. I found it easier to take the vent out and reach in through that hole when pulling off the switch. Thats the switch that goes bad, nobody told me the switch in back so I ended up taking half the dash out. Is that what you meant?

Yeah the switch with the metal prongs sticking out the back of it. So if i remove that vent on the driver side, i should beable to tackle it from there....Are the wires long enough to place into the new switch before installing it behind the dash?

Not exactly, you have to remove it from under the dash. You may not even have to go through the vent. It was just easier for me because Im kind of a big guy and it was hard for me to fit under the dash. I pulled on and off the plug from the vent hole. Im trying to remember if there is a write up somewhere. I should have taken more pics because now Im trying to remember if the screw for the duct work is behind the vent. I would say get under the dash and see how far you can get that way, like I said I took too many parts off.

well im sureim going to have to do it like you did, my arms are pretty big like yours...like i've been twisting wrenches for a living...but sadly in reality im a Q&A software engineer with a worlds worst farmers tan thanks to polo shirts and my convertible boxster.
