Over time the console and other silver coated plastic parts got heavily scratched and looked terrible. I tried several different methods to remove the coating but never found one that was satisfactory. I ended up taking the parts to someone who sandblasted the parts and they came back an attractive shade of black. The sandblaster suggested I then have the parts clear coated so I took them to a body shop for that and three years later they still look perfect. I think I paid the sandblaster $200 and the body shop $100 and, while I felt it was expensive, well worth the money.
