Script Boxster S Decals
I stopped by the local dealer recently and had a look at a yellow 2016 Boxster S, just for fun.
My eye was drawn to the familiar script emblem, applied as shown in the picture below. And I am thinking that applying a similar decal to a 986 in the same general location might be a cheap feature to try (if I don't like the result, should be easily removed). Places like eBay used to be chock full of these sort of decals (along with brake caliper decals, too), but I could not find any. Perhaps Porsche has chased away the Chinese counterfeiters? So, does anyone know of a vendor who can offer this type of decals today? Thanks - DM http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1551664737.jpg |
I have had this linked saved for a long time. I have never used them personally.

Most sign shops have scanners that can copy and cut graphics, any size or color, like this. Prices normally are less than eBay. You might look into it.

Got it, thanks!

Here's a factory version - $100 bucks.

Hi being a graphic designer i can tell you exactly what you need to do:
https://www.brandsoftheworld.com/logo/boxster Go to this link and download this file onto a memory stick, basically its an Adobe Illustrator EPS files. Don't worry that you will not be able to open the file, you would need Adobe Illustrator to be able to open the file. Take the memory stick to a local sign company and ask them to cut it on vinyl to the size and colour you want. Dont get them to print the colour on the vinyl as it will fade eventually. Use actual coloured vinyl Will cost about £10 max they may even apply them for you. If not fit them yourself by wetting the door, apply on the graphic, slide it about till your happy with the position then gently squeeze out the water. if you get any small bubbles just pop them with a pin the push then water out. It will dry flat so don't sweat any small bubbles too much or you can apply them dry but you get one chance to get it right. Peter |

Update: Mission Accomplished!
Thru the kindness of a fellow Forum member and long time buddy, he knew a guy who could do the die cutting work required. Pictures enclosed: http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1554409690.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1554409715.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1554409740.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1554409770.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1554409802.jpg The Red "S" bit plays off of some earlier work which I had already done to the rear deck emblem, as well as matching the floor mats: http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1554409877.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1554409932.jpg All considered, I am -really- pleased with the end result, and to my eyes, it looks like the factory ought to have offered this as an option back in the 986-era days. Thanks - DM |
That looks really nice.
Half of your garage fits into the "dream garage" description! |
I like this a great deal and would rather the badging on the trunk was a decal then the 3D emblem.

I intentionally left mine in the as-received black finish, rather than painting it, so I sorta have a black-and-blue motif going on, matching the black top. Thanks - DM |

I have the exact same spoiler on my Mustang. So I am at the website, I would like some details. Like how does it attach? Is it painted black or is it black gel coat? And if it is gel goat is it UV treated? if not it will fade in a year and look like hell. Thanks! |

I’ve had this ducktail installed for about 3 years. Installs with 3M double sided tape - tape is attached prior to shipping. It is black gel coat. Joe recommends a good coat of wax to keep it looking good. Mine has not faded and still looks great. |
