IMS Bearing Cost

Greetings!...I have an '04 boxster with 60k....I've decided to have the IMS bearing done...wondering what I should expect as a reasonable cost for having the work done...I live in the Santa Cruz area of California as I know location plays a part in costs...thanks in advance.

IMS Bearing Cost

The guy I bought my ‘03 S from had the IMS Bearing replaced with LN Engineering bearings and the RMS replaced at Flintworks in Campbell for $2200 inc tax

Have you checked the cam deviations with the durametric tool? There was some really good work done on vibration analysis / cam deviations as an indicator of ims health. There are a couple of good articles if your interested I can IM them to you. Rick

I had my IMS, RMS, and clutch done last year at a reputable independent shop - $3,900.

The vibration analysis approach seemed to come up blank a few years ago. Can deviation seems to be worthwhile checking.

There are parts for an IMS refit that vary in price, quality, expected longevity, warranty, history and reputation. And the transmission in a car changes the labor hours.

What the shop doing the swap has experience with matters.
