5spd Vs Auto

well today my freind called me and said he bought a 1998 boxster with 48000miles for $19500 i asked him if he had bought the 5spd or the auto,he got the auto.so i was online and i checked the stats of a auto.i was shocked to see that a auto is 1sec slower then my 5spd.I wana know why is it a 1sec slower then a 5spd boxster?
THANKS

Because it weighs about 100lbs more and the tiptronic has a torque converter that isn't as efficient at transferring power and torque compared to a traditional flywheel and clutch.

thats one of the main reasons I went ahead and made mo 05 my first stick shift car ever. Sometimes I realy think I don't shift well enough to beat someone in a tip, I just wasn't comfy with almost a 7 second 0-60 on the tip for the base box

Is there a way to make it a bit faster?
For straight line 0-60 would be nice.
But for mountain roads I love the Trip

I have 05 Trip.
Yesterday in a tight Mountain road wet and rainy was behaving real good, I was riding the limit of me (not the car) and got the rear drifts 3 times (PSM worked well)sport driving in this kind of conditions without taking the hands of the wheel was nice, this car handles soo good its amazing!!
