2003 boxster alternator rebuild

I got a noisy alternator when I turn it by hand. Anyone did the alternator rebuild? Where to buy the rebuild kit? Mainly front and rear bearings and possibly slip ring. Voltage regulator is easy to find.

Just go to PepBoys/Autozone/O'reilly/Advance Auto and buy one

Not worth the time, money, effort to rebuild

I`m just rebuilding mine. New bearings, brushes, etc. It`s $25 for the parts, but time-consuming and you`ll need bearing pullers.

$25 seems to be on the low end. Where did you get the parts from?

Also what type of pully puller did you use? It would be great to hear from you to save some time. I’ll try to loan one from local parts store.

I have a spare so my alternator will never wear out. IF I were buying from the autoparts chains, I'd be sure to get the one with the lifetime warranty. I've rebuilt GM Delcos before, with good results, Toyota (ND) too. I'm just getting lazy in my dotage.

Make sense. I heard that Bosch alternators are much harder to rebuild. I’ll check auto parts store for a lifetime warranty’d Alternator.

I bought this:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bosch-Alternator-Repair-Rebuild-Kit-Brushes-Brush-Holder-Parts-Dodge-Porche/192448410885?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

The pulley came off easily, didn`t need a puller. It`s the older version I think though (99). I`ll add some pics on my show&tell thread soon.

I had my Bosch rebuilt. Figured the Bosch rebuilt was better than replacing after standing in line after someone replacing a alternator after purchase . Was around 100 bucks..
Lifetime warranty isn't bad though..
