Passenger side mirror in reverse 02 boxster

In reverse gear, does anyone else's passenger side mirror automatically goes down to prevent scraping rims on the curb??

My passenger side mirror only worked when my alternator was going. not sure if this is a standard feature or a feature that needs to be waken up by the techs at porsche.

Hi,

If memory serves me, this was an option with the Memory Seats and the dealer has to turn it on. I'm not sure what you mean by only worked when your alternator was going, the alternator is turning all the time the engine is turning although until a load is put on it, it isn't producing much power...

Interesting, I have a 97 non-S boxster, I dont have memory seats....would i still be able to have the dealer turn on the reverse mirrors?

ment when my altenator was going bad and all my electrical would be going crazy, but sucks that i need the dealer to do something as simple as that.

On my '02 with memory seats (must have for this feature), the ignition has to be on and car in reverse when you store the memory set ("M" + #), then it will droop when you put in in reverse from then on

My wife's Mercedes has this feature. It does a good job when backing out of the garage.

Remeber the days of "curb feelers"?

I remember Curb feelers on my Grandmas Giant light green pontiac....she even had those replaced every year when they would begin to rust.

When car is in reverse gear , mirror drops to shop curb level.
Mirror reverts to original side view after gear is moved out of reverse.

Also had this on my 98 BMW 528 and my 2005 BMW X3.

dbth, do I have this on my car? I don't think I do. Was this an option combined with the rain sensing wipers or the electronic memory seats? Thanks.

I bet I don't have it since I do not have the memory/electric seats. I'll get a set of chrome curb feelers instead!

Or maybe I'll have the curb feelers painted carrara white by bumperglugs!
