Which bulb is this?
I have a light out in the headlight housing on my 04 with litronics. It's neither the low or high beam; it's the light just below the low beam. Marker light? Parking light? The tiny bulb has 4 tiny leds. What is the bulb number, name?

Parking light (H6W) and OEM is not LED, so you should buy a set (either LED or incandescent) and replace both so the colors match.

Thanks! Is there a particular brand you recommend for the leds? I'm seeing a lot of bad reviews on amazon.

I bought these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075MCTTC8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I installed them last Saturday so I can verify that they fit and will work for at least one week. The light appears whiter and brighter than an incandescent bulb. |
Alright, I'll give them a try!

It appeared that most of the complaints about this brand were from BMW owners. If I understood the concerns correctly, the problems arose in cars with a light monitoring system. The LED’s don’t draw as much power as a stock bulb and the system interprets that as a burned-out bulb. I know my 2000 doesn’t have that type of system. I am not sure about the later 986’s.

There's lots and lots of replacement LED lamps out there on the market now, and their quality varies all over the map. Price does not appear to be a reliable qualifier in terms of quality, as I have tried cheap ones which were wonderful, as well as more expensive ones which quickly failed.
Fortunately, however, these are generally so inexpensive today that you can easily afford to experiment. Just try one and see how it strikes you. If the LED's fail after a bit of use - in my experiences they will either fade or start to flicker - simply try another style. DM |
