battery tender hook up

How do you keep your boxster hooked up to a battery tender if you don't have power to your cigarette lighter,, can you hook up directly to battery even though it says not to hook anything up to the negative terminal. thanks jimbo

Mine is hooked up directly to the batter terminals, but the cigarette lighter in the 986 is always on so that it can be used with a battery tender.

Directly to the battery + and - with a disconnect at the cowling. Have had this set up for 5 years and never a problem.

I have an extension hooked to the battery on mom's 987 to keep it on a CTEK tender. There's a drain somewhere and I need to dig in to find it, but it's a temporary solution in the mean time. :o

Ditto. But even longer years wise. I've used tenders on cars and moto's for years. Keep in mind there is a difference between a "tender" and a trickle charger. You want a true tender. Many good options.
