DIY Footwell Lights
Just finished installing my own footwell lights, not bad for a $10 hack! They aren't as bright as they look in the picture or as blue, it's actually pretty subtle. They are wired up the A-pillar to the courtest light.

Pretty cool. Which switch are they connected to or do they come on when you open the doors?

Nice Job, but does the Map light work independently of the floor lights or do they all come on? Happy Motoring!... Jim'99 |
Jim:
The map light is independant, there are three cables going to it, a switched 12v that comes live when the door opens, a constant 12v used for the switch and a ground. The other option would be to wire straight to the bulb contacts then you could have the footwell light up whenever the map light was on. Josh: I didn't use a switch at all, I really don't see the benefit to be honest. It would need relays and all sorts of stuff to make it work and I can't envisage a case where I'd want to turn them on with a switch anyway. They come on when the door is opened and stay on with the other cabin lights, when they fade so do the footwell lights. |
