Top Rattle?

Just recently got a used 2005 Boxster S with 48K. I've noticed a rattle over rough/uneven pavement when the top is up but it goes away when the top is down. Therefore I assume it is the top. Is this to be expected/common? The last convertible was Mom's '69 Chevelle - in '69! So I really don't have a reference to go by as far as convertibles and noisy tops go. Thanks.

Sam

Same issue with my '03 S...Something in the top rattles (a lot) at speeds over 70mph...on the passenger side.

Sounds a little silly, but check your rollbar screens. They can rattle, almost like a buzz. Mine do it when the top is up, but not down. I used a little thin foam tape on mine to tighten them up.
