Car Infor

Hello all,
First time poster here...I've been lurking around here for few months and finally bought 2004 boxster from my brother.

I was wondering if there is a way I can find out more about my car via vin #? Like the info from window sticker at dealers...Unfprtunately, my brother can't remember all the little details. Just curious...

Any lead would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks,

Hi,

Congratulations and welcome. The VIN isn't the best source of information. It would be better to look at the codes on the Build Sticker located under the Hood. This sticker will contain a series of 3 digit option codes which tell you everything that went into the car. Never post the VIN (which I'm sure you already know), but it's OK to post the option codes from the Build Sticker and we can decipher them for you. Hope this helps...

Happy Motoring!... im'99

Why do you never post VINs?
Aren't they required on sites like eBay and Autotrader?

Jeph, there was a good thread about this a few months back. I'll try to find it.

Thanks,

You know, after reading the other thread about the scammer - I just have to wonder about posts like this. I'm sure this is a good person and all, but what a strange first post. Although I guess it's better than the typical "this broke how do I fix it" type of introduction.

Time will tell I suppose...

Thanks MNBoxter...that's certainly helpful...

Denverpete,
I can understand why everyone including myself is on edge everytime we hear or read about some scams.

Like I said, I've been hanging out and reading up post here a while. I searched for the newbie section to introduce myself, but no luck. I decided to post my first one shortly after purchase of the car.

I'm curious how was it that my post similar those scammers.

Asking for help on my first post might make me a jackass to some, but I don't think my post was any where near to those "post like this".

Anyway, like you said, time will tell...

My apologies if it came off wrong. I don't think asking the question you asked makes you in any way shape or form a jackass. It's just that your post came so soon after the whole VIN thing with the other guy - who really is a jackass.

Seriously - my apologies if it came off wrong.

Welcome and congrats on the Boxster!
