Early 2000 S Question

I have a 2000 S #113. It was brought into the U.S. as a car to bring around to the dealerships to try to get future customers. I forget the name (old age, ugh.) Anyway, I noticed when a transmission question came up earlier, the stamping on my transmission was different than expected for the make. I think there were possibly 2 types and mine was neither (though a 6 speed). Again, I forget what it read but it was different. Now looking at a 2000 Box S today on BAT, I noticed my car does not have a ring on the rear deck above the oil/coolant add area. It is almost like the ring on the lid would seal the area with the lid closed.

My question is, for the cars they brought in to lure in (or possible scare away), were they not totally complete and still a work in progress? Maybe the ring thing fell off on my car but it doesn't look like anything is missing.

Thanks,

David
