Hazy Headlight
I have a strange haziness on the outside of the right headlight. It's on the outside of the lens rather than the inside and is only on the right headlight. The lens on the left headlight is as clear as a bell. I tried unsuccessfully to clean off the haziness but the buildup material is rock hard and I'm afraid to scratch the lens.
Anybody have an idea of what this material might be and how I might remove the buildup? Is this perhaps the uv protection breaking down? http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1531094101.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1531094146.jpg |
Yes, that's the clear coat breaking down.
Get some Meguiars Plast-X and an orbital polisher. Polish it with the Plast-X and orbital for 5 minutes or so and it will look much, much better. It will eventually have to be sanded down and refinished. |
I've had good luck with Novus plastis polish. They make a #1,2 &3. The number two has a touch of abrasive and would be my choice to get rid of the haze. I've brought some old motorcycle windshields back form the dead with it.
