Broken part on suspension...what is it?

I replaced the front shocks and accompanying hardware this past weekend without too much issue for the most part except on the drivers side. There is a plastic mounting bracket that I think was mounted to the control arm (memory is fuzzy) behind the drop link that has a double jointed arm assembly attached to it. It kind of looks like something tied to the steering system obviously apart from being flimsy but it broke (the mounting bracket) when I was removing the drop link and control arm to replace the shock on the driver side. I have been unable to find a diagram showing it and really do not know what to call it to search for it...any ideas?

It sounds like you're talking about Litronic angle/load sensors. A picture would clear things up.

I asked this (presumably) same question a few months back:

That looks to be it...the car has litronics

so I am 99% sure that is what broke. Thanks for the info and link.
