Broken FRUNK release?
Hey Guys,
I found that my ongoing problem with the inability to open my FRUNK, (without using The emergency release) I have noticed that the cross pin under the release lever, that The wire loop is held by.... Is broken..... I have searched all over to find how the release lever housing comes apart.... But darned if I can figure it out.... I'm probably being stupid.... But I hate breaking things.... (When I don't have too....) Could some kind soul point me in the correct direction? Thanks! Fred |
On closer inspection the cross pin has backed out to the left (outboard) in the FRUNK handle bracket.... Since the pin is stuck out of the left side of the bracket.... It won't allow the lever to be raised all the way, as it should....

Maybe this will help.
Looks like your retaining clip (#15) fell off or broke. |
Just replace it. Mine fell apart and I found a nice one on Ebay for about $30. You're right, your pictures are pretty crummy.
In the meantime, just don't slam the hood shut, let the safety catch do the work. Not a bad idea to put the year and model of your Boxster in your signature. \/ \/ \/ \/ |
Hey Guys,
Bless You! Just what I needed I'm sorry for the bad pics.... But try as I might... I couldn't get better ones in the tight dark place, balancing a flashlight on my nose! Gotta disagree with your idea of driving with the bonnet not properly latched.... That sounds like a lovely way to get a smashed windshield! I have read that it has happened on Boxsters! Now that I have that beautiful diagram..... My world is now a happy place!!! Thank you so much..... And sorry for whining!!! Fred |
Waaaahoooo!!!!
After 8 months I can now get in the frunk without brain surgery by way of the anus! The “pin” is a metric Allen head bolt.... I just put a dab of locktight, on, snugged it up and was good to go.... oh for the good of the order.... and the next poor soul to have to do this.... the three Allen head bolts/washers that hold the assembly on... DO NOT need to be removed.... Just loosened.... and the assembly can be lifted up! (Ask me how I Know!🙄) I would love to see how this part is put on, on the assembly line.... Thanks so much guys..... small victories!!! |
