I can't get into my 03 986 Base.

Went on vacation, came back and the keyless entry won't work. Tried to unlock with the key, and it won't unlock. I'm at a loss. The key cylinder acts like it works fine. Has tension and turns the way it should.

I suspect I have an immobilizer problem, but I can't get in at this point. I got into the frunk and the alarm works, so I know the battery isn't dead.

Any advice on how to get in? I don't want to cut the top, even though it could use one.

If manually using the key in the door lock isn't working, and the battery is not dead, it sounds like the door lock may be broken. Before you go further, have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery? How do you know the battery isn't low, the trunk light alone may still work even if the battery is low, did the alarm go off for several minutes when you opened the frunk?

I would call AAA and see if they can open the door by manually going in through the window, car jacker style. I have never heard of anyone having to cut the top, which might not even work, if the door latch mechanism is broken the internal latch may not work either.

There is a frunk release cable tucked up behind the right headlight. Hard to find but it's there unless someone moved it. Give it a tug and you can get to your battery.

I've gotten into the frunk, battery was blaring loudly. I left it disconnected for 3 days and tried again.

Tried both keys, pushed the unlock button while turning. still no luck.

Turns out we have a lockout kit here at work, I'll try to gain access with that next.

I had to break in to mine once. I bent a piece of .100" rod into an arc with a 90° bend at the end. I carefully slid it between the glass and seal at the top rear on the driver side. I then hooked the inner door handle and pulled twice, opening the door. If you use a piece of plastic or thin cardboard between the rod and seal you can ensure that you won't damage it.

There are probably better tools for this, but I needed to get into the car and just used what I had. It was a 10 minute job with experimenting with bends to get to the handle, etc.

I'd go with Qmulus' suggestion. It's not difficult.

Used a lockout kit a friend had.

Somethings wrong with the door, just need to drive it more so the key doesn't go to sleep.

The keyfobs don't go to sleep. It's the car electronic that falls into sleeping mode after 120 hours. That means the keyfob receiver (immobilizer) in the car gets turned off.

You can't get the car out of sleeping mode by opening the door via the doorlock. You have to turn on the ignition to reactivate the immobilizer. Than the keyfobs will work again.
