Shifter cable broke this Sunday night

So, my son and I were driving home after watching Infinity Wars. We got to a stop light and the shifter felt out of place and then completely loose like a wet noodle. I was in 4th or 5th as we coasted to the stop light. Light turned green and I had to think fast. I gently feathered the clutch and got us rolling, took a right hand turn to a slight down sloping road. Asked my son if I should pull into the Walmart parking lot or the local coffee shop to the left and he quickly replied, "left turn, left turn!" So, we gimped into the local Joe's coffee shop, called insurance and got a tow within about a 30 minute span. I pulled the center console off last night and verified the forward backward moving cable had snapped right under the shifter assembly where the steel rod meets the cable. I have a replacement ordered and will be learning that repair possibly this coming weekend if the parts arrive in time. It will be good to have her back on the road soon.

Annnnnnd it's fixed! yay! not that hard of a repair. I purchased a used pair of cables complete with shifter and it was pretty easy to replace it all at once. Hopefully, this used set has a few years left in it. I repainted my center console while it was out. Looks nice and fresh and shifts great!

Glad you got it fixed and to hear it is not too rough of a job, I've got a set of numeric cables to go in, have been kind of dreading the install :)
