Durametric on Android Tablet ?

Will this work and if so can you tell me how you are doing this ?

I used a USB adapter this afternoon after downloading the software and the tabled just reported "Unable to open this program "

it would sure be a lot handier than a laptop

Thanks in advance

Dwight

The software is designed to work with Windows. Maybe with a Windows emulator, but I doubt it.

kirkandorules 03-28-2018 08:03 PM

Main reason I haven't bought it is that I don't have any windows computers, wonder if it works in WINE?

Cunningr 03-28-2018 10:05 PM

Probably a slate book or similar type computer that runs regular windows would work.

Won't work went to durametric site below are the software requirements would work on a windows 10 tablet PC:

System Requirements
Version 6 system requirements differ from version 5...
Windows XP, Vista, Win7, Win8, and Windows 10 (32- or 64-bit versions)
1.8 GHz Pentium-class, dual-core processor or faster (ARM processor such as on Windows Surface using WinRT not supported)
1 GB Memory (RAM)
1 GB available disk space
Available USB port
Internet connection (for installation and updates)
Screen resolution of 800x600 or greater
Enable Microsoft® .NET Framework 3.5.1 (?). Version 4 not supported. Free download for XP and Vista.

I currently use a Motion Computing J3500 tablet when running the Durametric software. It's a beast of a Windows tablet - Core i7 processor, 16 GB RAM, SSD, etc. WAY overkill. Only downside is that the one I have is pen driven (they do make a finger touch version).

I feel kinda like I'm Dr Rodney McKay from Stargate Atlantis when I have it hooked into the car. LOL

I also run the Durametric software on a Dell Inspiron Mini 10 (old, slow netbook). I didn't think it would work because of the Atom processor, but it actually ran fine. The netbook takes up very little space and I stow it behind the passenger seat when I take the car out for longer day trips.

Both machines are running Windows 7 Pro (I have Windows 10, but still prefer 7)...

If anyone talks to Durametric, tell them I’ll help them transition to running on iOS, Android, and Windows through the use of Xamarin. I have a great deal of professional experience with this. Since Durametric is .NET based, it’s a natural fit.

You volunteering to support it too? [emoji851]

Obscure reference but being a Stargate Atlantis fan I can easily picture this!

Being a iMac and iPad guy I would love to see this.

Virtualized my MacBook; installed Windows on VM, Durametric runs perfectly there...lot of effort though...would love to see a MacBook version.

I don't have durametric, and have no plans for getting it. BUT, I do have a Toyota program & cable for my Prius--it's a Chinese clone program (which means it's pirated.) It's easiest to use on Win XP computers--obsolete by at least 5 years. Which means that one can get really nice, clean restored laptops or netbooks for practically nothing. I paid $35 for mine and found it on Craigslist. It is from the "It's a Dell, dude." era.

It doesn't connect to the internet (no wifi adaptor.) So it's isolated, immune to internet born viruses, etc., and never needs to be upgraded.

If ever I come across someone who's practically giving away durametric and an OBD cable, I'll install it on my good old XP laptop. Apple stuff & Android are wonderful, but I wouldn't go to the trouble with old netbooks available.

Way back I had it running on my Motion M1400 tablet (a Stargate Atlantis prop running the show software autographed by David Hewlett). Ran ok as long as I was running Win XP (not so much when I ran it with Win 7)... s..l..o..w...

(damn I have a lot of PCs...)

I am offering to help them put Durametric on computing devices people commonly carry around.

What about a double din Android based head unit running a virtual Windows with the Durametric always connected so you could access it whenever needed? That would be cool.
