Lowered 986 supenssion

How low can a Boxster be safely lowered? I bought a set a Yellow Racing Coil overs Last April just now getting around to installing them and it seems like the car will be too low.

Not sure about the suspension but nice height stand and granite table

Thank you sir .Think I will make new lower brackets for the coil overs so the drop wont be so much.

Rule of thumb is not to let the control arms go below horizontal. Here are a couple of side shots that show where my car ended up. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1522089783.jpg

They actually don't look that much shorter if you look where each of them will bottom out in the knuckle.

Just about 1.200 of drop. That lowered 986 looks nice do you recall how much it is lowered?

It's like 1.5-2". Corner balancing moved it about some, too.

I guess my brother ruined me, because the first thing I saw was a drum stick!

I just installed a set of Vogtland lowering springs on my friends '01 986 S and it dropped it about an inch. I would have preferred about 1.5-2" myself for appearance sake, but it really depends on what you do with the car and how much you want to put into being able to adjust camber and toe and all the things that start becoming issues with lowering.

Going thru the same thing...

I’d like a solution that added back 1” or so. Might have to be springs. My setup retains the stock upper front and rear mounts so spring choices might be limited. I’ll swap those if I have to but would prefer to keep the rubber (mostly street car).
