I'm running a tire trailer that has two LED brake lights/turning lights, and also LED running lights, and running it successfully using taps off the brake, turn signal, and rear running lights. I did blow a fuse once when the trailer had incandescent bulbs, but it has not happened since I switched the trailer over to LED. So I think you would be safe to run two extra LEDs off the current brake lights.

I'm using these taps:

As the clamp on blade style taps that came with my trailer harness adapter were junk and didn't work, maybe due to improper installation, but moving forward with other wiring projects I am sticking with this style of tap.
