New Seat Covers

Hi, The driver's seat leather in my 986 is on a steady decline and planning to order a Porsche red seat cover for it. Looking for some recommendations from fellow forum members on the vendors out there as the OEM covers are cost prohibitive. Thanks in advance for your input.

I bought new seat upholstery from Auto Custom Leathers. $750 for a custom 2 tone set.

Have had them in over a year. Very happy with the results. They stock original Porsche colors, even matched my Savannah beige, which is a very difficult color.

What color are your seats? I just did mine. I bought the set from Lseat. It was a tough job!

Just went through the seat cover ringer myself

Bought a set of “German Leather” seat covers from a dealer on eBay. Spectacular eBay rating (too spectacular as it turned out). Had them installed by an upholsterer in Colorado. The fit was horrible. Covers were much too big. Went around and round with the seller for two days. In the end, they asked eBay to settle it and without talking to me, they did.. In the sellers favor. I got back with eBay, made my case and had them go through the negotiation email thread. EBay reversed the decision and credited me back the $800. Now I have a crappy looking set of nice German leather covers, but I do have my money back. I’ll probably take it back to the upholsterer this summer to see if they can sort it out.

Very interesting

Do you know if your upholsterer added padding under the covers? Mine fit very poorly and the manufacturer claimed the seats shrink and actually require additional padding. Was that your experience?

No extra padding. The original upholstery was removed and these replaced them directly over the original foam padding. They should be tight and smooth just like the originals.
