Issues with 2003 Porsche boxster -P0344

Okay, got the car back from Bauer and still have CEL code. What I'm being told us the following: timing chain sprocket on the intermediate shaft are loose and moving. They suggest sprocket can be YOU welded in place. They also suggest replacing the variable camshaft adjuster at the end of bank 1 intake camshaft and the solenoid. It either these things be done which could mean a complete disassembly of the engine. This really seems much for a camshaft sensor error. Can anyone provide me an guidance or practicing this matter. One final point, if I see my scanner to reset this fault code, can I get the car sniffed to pass the inspection. Thanks, in advane , for any insight into this problem. Duke
