Chief of Artillery Firing Battery is commonly know as a "Smoke", and with my last name Shoemaker, SMK Shoe just always worked.

Dated a girl from Qingdao... Started as a name on the Chinese motorcycle forum, then snowballed from there. Sure pisses the current wife off (who is not from Qingdao)

Not particularly creative: First, middle initial, last.

Served as the Balloonmeister for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta in 1990 and 1991. Was responsible for all flight operations of the world's largest gathering of hot air balloons for the nine day event. Have since served on the AIBF Board of Directors for the past 30 years. We'll be celebrating the 50th Balloon Fiesta in October 2021.

Piece of friendly advice... do not introduce her as your current wife.

Though factually accurate they oddly do not appreciate.

One of the planes I learned to fly in: Piper Warrior II, Tail number N6909T. Actually, I did mainly instrument training on that plane and took friends/family up for scenic rides. The plane on which I earned my license was a Cessna 152. But of the two I prefer the piper, so I use it for the name.

Just what a lot of people call me. I've been the boss for a long time. I speak with authority and I'm almost always right 😉

Double entendre

The Boxster was my 1st ragtop and I drove it "top down" everywhere for almost two years. 986forum is the only place I have used this screen name and most other sites you can find me as Cajundaddy.

Cajundaddy? Are you a relocated coonass living in California? I'm 1/4 coonass and 3/4 wannabe coonass so I can say that.

The toy company, my last name is Hayes, and in memory of a 46" long pet iguana named Hasbro The Tree Chicken. Can't make that up!

It's complicated.

While I do have family in southern Louisiana and TX including a parish named after my daddy's side "Moss Bluff, LA", I am not technically Cajun by blood... as far as we know. My dad came to CA from the TX panhandle in the back of a pickup truck during the 30s dustbowl era. A chapter right out of The Grapes of Wrath.

The Cajundaddy nickname comes from my cooking style on the BBQ. I like to get her real hot before throwing on the meat so it gets properly seared right away and locks in the juices. One time I was feeding my kids swim team and things might have gotten a bit beyond the searing, and all the way to blackened. We all had a good laugh after the flames were doused and Cajundaddy was my name for the rest of the year poolside. It just stuck.

My name...well, you asked.

My first house had a 16 x 32 in-ground pool with a wooden deck. Needless to say, we had many gatherings, and beer-drinking adventures.

One time I ended up naked and drunk. I made some sort of half-assed dive off the board, swam up to the end where my beer was and leaped up out of the water and slid on my belly on the wet wood to grab my beer. I guzzled and clapped my hands and barked like a seal.

One of my wife's proudest moments I'm sure. Got a ton of laughs though.

The nickname Seal has stuck ever since.

ps..no slivers lol
