Cold weather engine maintenance

Hi everyone
The weather is bloody cold here in England but unfortunately I have to do some engine maintenance which obviously means opening the roof and folding the rear plastic window in.
I am carrying out this work in an unheated garage and I am worried about cracking the window or the stitching. Apart from trying to warm everything up, are there any good tips as it will probably be open most of the day
Thanks
Walshie

Why not try carefully heating the window with a hair dryer? Aftertop is in service position, you could continue by removing entire top assembly (if repairs warranted the effort). It Should take less than an hour to remove top and frame.

How cold is "bloody cold?" What maintenance do you need to do that can't wait til warmer weather? You could use a space heater to warm it up to get it into service position, probably wouldn't work too well to get it out of service position, tho. To get it warm after you're done, open the garage door, start it up and run it to op. temp, then use a fan to blow the warm air into the area of the rear window.

I live in CO and it TRULY can be bloody cold. I use a hair dryer, (not a heat gun) if I must open the top in the winter. Just be sure to be gentle with it, “karate chop” any horizontal creases and you should be fine. If it’s 45-50 degrees it’s not too bad. If colder, I would wait. Mostly because that’s just too dang cold to be messing with an engine! ;-)
