Transmission swap

Could I use the automatic transmission from a Boxster Base to a Boxster S? I have the 2 cars, I want to keep the Boxster S but the transmission is damaged. I want to swap the transmission from the 2.7 engine to the 3.2 Boxster S. Is it possible?
Thanks

The axles that fit the 2.7L car bolt to a different size coupling than the 3.2L car and the wheel hubs are different. I expect that it can be done but not as a simple exchange of just the transmission. It may be simpler just to swap parts from one transmission to the other.

Thanks, that is more clear for me now. We open the transmission and found a lot of metal inside and the PLANETARY GEARS has some broken parts and also something that looks like a solenoid is cover with some metal flakes, I need to see if I can post pictures to explain better the situation. I am not sure about the name of some parts, just googling to ask the questions.
