Spoiler won't auto retract

Hello all,

My spoiler won't auto retract at 45 mph anymore. It goes up at 75, and I can put it up and down with the switch, but it won't auto-retract. Another strange thing is when I manually put it down, when it gets to the bottom, there is a "tap, tap, tap" noise that wasn't there before.

Any ideas?

Tony

Have you lubricated the shafts on both sides? Mine did the bottom issue before I lubed
the shafts now it's back to normal. This could also be the cause of it not auto retracting
when you reduce speed though that could also be either a programmed setting or
cable/mechanism binding.

OK. I took the spoiler off to see if I could grease it. No problem there. In fact, when the spoiler is off, the support posts extend and retract with no problem. But, with the spoiler on, the motors have a hard time retracting, and sometimes one side will have trouble fully extending. I think the motors are crapping out. Any ideas?

You can disassemble the unit and lube it. After many years the grease goes hard and the mechanism will get slow. It's not real hard to do and should fix your issues.
