First long trip in the Boxster..
 

With all the "my Boxster is busted" threads I thought I would post a positive one.

Last week I drove my S from North NJ to Myrtle beach and than back, car performed really well, no issues, did not use a drop of oil (surprised!).
With local driving included it was about 2000 miles or so.

I have not taken this long a trip in a Porsche since I drove my 951 to the Indy GP in 2000.

Wife and I really enjoyed the trip in the Boxster, I was able to get so much luggage into it, very cool!
Only regret is I did not have a bike rack so I could bring my Road bikes for the week.

hey me too. i just recently took a long trip in my boxster. the first time that i drove the car further then 30 mins. although i did not go as far as you, my trip was up to my friends cottage, which was about a 4 hour drive north.

what a beautiful drive, and the boxster made it perfect.

my speeding ticket was well deserved...........................102 in a posted 80....i shall fight it to the end.

Fight that evil ticket!! The Val 1 saved me many times on my ride, I was spared meeting the last despite my many trips over 100 :)

My trip was about 11 hours each way, while I love my 86 911 I dont think I could have dealt with it for that long a trip. The 5 hours to Watkins Glen was about it for me in that car.
However, my old 951 or 944's were awesome long distance cruisers.

I love kilometers... makes you look like a speed demon in mph and makes Canada look very "speed-friendly" with a posted speed of 80! Pity it doesn't feel that fast!

Kronix, I think it's time for you to buy a V1. I sure do love mine and the wife loves it too because of those arrows. Makes it fun for her to scout the cops for me.

Back to the topic of this thread: I am itching to take an overnight trip in the boxster, and the wife is asking for a weekend trip to Fredricksburg, a German town about two hours from Houston. Sounds like a great trip for the box.

You were able to take enough luggage in that thing to keep your wife happy? Nice...Im afraid if I took my car on a trip with the wife I would only be able to pack a pair of BVDs for myself.

I should have taken pics of the large suitcase that fit into the rear trunk... and I got a nice mid sized suitcase and my laptop case into the front with room to spare.

I convinced my wife to take the Boxster on our vacation for a week to Newport Beach, CA last month. We managed to fill both trunks with suite cases and assorted bags and duffles. It was quite a challenge since we usually take a Ford Expedition that she manages to fill to the headliner.
We loved driving up and down Pacific Coast Highway with the top down all week. She was a great sport about it until she realized that there was no room to bring anything back from shopping. Save me lots of $$$.

We too drove up PCH1 in the boxster, driving from Texas to do it! Both trunks full to the top, of course.

My wife was sharp though... found all sorts of stuff and said to salesperson, "You can UPS this to Houston for me, right?" :eek:

"You can UPS this to Houston for me, right?"

LOL...now that's smooth!!

New member and found this sight when trying to decide to take my 03 Boxster on a 4 day 3000 mile trip. Just had 60,000 mile service done, had to replace alternator and belt. Will let you know when I get back!

2 weeks after we got our Boxster my wife and I took a 750 mile round trip from San Diego to Phoenix. We had a blast and not once did she complain about my driving. It was very comfortable and of course a whole poopload of fun! With the trunk and frunk, plenty of room for luggage for few days to a week.

I have seen luggage made specifically for the 986, 2 bags for the trunk and 2 for the frunk. IIRC, it was under $200. Yes, there is a set of Porsche Design luggage that around $15,000, but that is just crazy!!

We are planning a longer trip for later this summer, maybe San Diego to San Francisco, driving up the coast

Not quite as long of a trip, but I just drove from LA to Monterey, CA in the Spec Boxster - no a/c, no radio, no side windows, racing seat and harnesses, loud exhaust, 450/500lb springs, lowered ride height, and PSS9's set to full hard. It was in the mid-90's in the Central Valley which meant well over 100 inside the car (even at 75mph).
