Thank you "particlewave"
I had most terrifying experience one week ago when both my headlights malfunctioned at night. I have the retrofit headlights by Nine8Six that particlewave, a member of this forum, installed for me 4 years ago. In the 8 years of owning my 2001 base, the retrofit and the 2003 soft-top with glass window upgrade are the best money I spent on the car.
It was weird that both low-beams were gone. I first suspected the alternator as the battery was only one month old. A long story short, particlewave, is one stand up guy. (Nine8Six is also a remarkable person of character but that’s another post.) I private messaged particlewave on Thanksgiving Day. Thanksgiving Day! He shortly replied my message with suggestions when he had no reason to. I asked to look at the video I took of my not-working headlights and he watched and pointed me to right direction when he had no reason to. Guess what? The headlights are fixed. All thanks to particlewave. Particlewave, thank you so much. Michael P. S. Many years ago before I bought my Boxster, a friend of mine who is a car crazy told me Porsche owner were ‘nice.’ Nice? I didn’t know what he meant. But I know now. I met many many ‘nice’ people in the forum. I love this forum as it save me money, but even more, I love this forum because people from all walks of life come together to share and do some good. Thank you members. |
It's not the cars, it's the people.

Glad to help, Mike. :)

+1 on particlewave. His sharing of knowledge has been helpful many times - as recently as last week, again, for me.
|
+1 from me also.
I have interacted with Particlewave a number of times on different issues. Charles has never failed to help. Thanks again for helping me and others. Don E. |
BTW, I should add that my problem was the headlight switch. More precisely, internal build up of "something(carbon?)" inside the switch.
After pulling off the side vent and the switch from the dash, I applied generous amount of contact cleaner through the middle of the shaft while holding up the switch shaft side up. I then reinstalled the knob and turned to all the switch positions, including the fog light, like a mad man. I then removed the knob, apply more contact cleaner, reinstall the knob, turn to all switch position then repeat the steps for about 4~5 times. The switch works now. Thank you again particlewave. |
 To Particlewave. He's been very helpful to the 986 community for years.

+1000! He did my Nine8Six headlight conversion and redid one and repaired the other after a fender bender, even helped me get the repairs covered by my car insurance!
|
Nice to see a good news story about a decent member of the Porsche community. Bravo Particlewave!

Agree on Particlewave! He helped me get a track decal shipped to Sweden, when the manufacturer wanted to charge ridiculously much.
|
He has helped me immensely on my car too. Can't thank him enough.

The truth is that I've run out of things to do with my car (I hope that statement doesn't come back to bite me), so I have to live vicariously through you guys. :D
Thanks for the appreciation. |
