With these sealed inside the headlight housing, will they run cool enough, could they get hot enough to melt the headlight housing?
|
I would have thought that the LED option would 'burn' cooler than the halogens .... but with some of the observations I'm reading, I'm a bit concerned that the heat sink ribbons would melt the housing cap?
|
I think the heat concern is more on the resistor pack than the heatsink. I can try to get in mine to test.

Hey guys.... just for info. The ‘blob” type LED’s I linked above WILL fit and function. With the door closed.... however my doors have been opened up by the previous owner for his (HID?) headlight mod. Which will let the fans “breath” time will tell how it holds up.... but so far.... i like it!!!

Bad Bad idea leaving off any cover. I concur with PW. On my VW Sportswagen the smaller rubber cover came off the passenger side headlight and a Tree Frog found it's way inside. It could not get out and finally died. Glad it was not a snake. I hate those. Funny story right! I have no idea what happened to the cover, but I ordered another. All is well now.....No more Frogs!

Yeah I wouldn’t have cut the slot in the Door for the HID ballast and anti flicker modules.... but spilt milk, I. guess....
I may plug the slot with silicone, etc But having some fresh air for the LEDs can’t be bad.... https://imgur.com/gallery/Vv970 |

Plug and play but I cannot get the brights to work. I replaced my stock bulbs (high and low beam) with these H7 LEDs. So 2 on each side. But when I try to turn my brights on, the indicator light on the dash comes on, but the lights dont change at all. Is this because im running 2 LEDs on each side? Should I run a low beam LED and high beam halogen or vice versa? Any suggestions will help, thanks.

I have LED's for the Low Beams and parking light LED's in the headlights. All things work just fine and look great when all on. I also have LED"s for my Fog Lights. They are my DRL's, and switched on with the ignition key.

I’ve got H7 led’s with the ribbon type heat sinks and all work fine. The only negatives are 1) when using the fog lights, the high beam indicator on the dash goes off and 2) they somehow degrade my fm reception

I phrased it incorrectly... when turning on the fog lamps, the blue high beam indicator on the dash comes on. |

You may need a load resistor on the high beam bulb. |
Philips xtreme ultinon H7 high beams
Has anyone used the Philips xtreme ultinon as replacement for their H7 high beams? Any issues with heat and the resistor melting the housing of the headlights?
