Well ...... Bye.

After 16 1/2 years & 30,991 miles I said goodbye to the Boxster. It was a great run and a great car. I have wanted something new for awhile now but could never connect with the right buyer. Two buyers before this one backed out due to IMS fears. It was nice to see it go to someone who was genuinely excited to get it and appreciated what went into it over the years.

After one sell fell though I had elected to keep it and get a four post lift. After some reflection I just couldn't do it. It's just my wife and I and that would have put five cars in the stable. It just didn't make sense.

This forum has been a big part of the ownership of the car. For that I thanks all of you.

So, on to the next Porsche. I am not sure which way I will go.... 'but I'll let you know.

Oh yeah.... for those that want to know, I sold it for $19,000.

That must of been hard...really, really, really hard to do. As a car guy, I miss every car I've ever owned, even if was a POS (didn't we all have something like that?). For me, they become family members not just transportation. I've tried to convince myself "it's the right thing to do", and even if it is, it still just doesn't feel right. The last car I sold (traded in), I actually left a note (in a hidden location) for the future owner describing the experiences we had with the car; yes I know that's weird, but I wanted to let someone know we cared for the car and hoped they would as well.

In your situation, as you sold yourself, I hope that (if you wanted) you can keep in touch with the new owner. Perhaps they would also share experiences and maybe you would end up with a new friend to replace the one you just lost, or at least you could take solace in the fact that the car will being going to someone who will drive it and end up with a second chance at life.

Best wishes on your new purchase, or should I say congratulations on your expectant new child? :)

Wait a minute. Doesn't make sense to have five cars, so you sold the Boxster, then say you're going to buy another Porsche? https://content.invisioncic.com/r127...default_IG.gif

Sad to see you go Chuck, you can still visit here! Your car is without a doubt one of the nicest Boxsters on the road, your buyer is very lucky to own it. Good luck with your next acquisition

Hi Chuck - this is a bit sad for sure. I want to again thank-you for your help this past summer when I did my secondary cat by-pass project. You were a big help. And, thanks for your many helpful and cheerful posts. You are always so helpful. I always felt that your Boxster was perhaps the very best out there. Someone has made a great acquisition for sure. The very best to you Chuck. Don't be a stranger!

Probably the only Boxster in the world that is in a better condition 16.5 years later, then the day it left the factory :D
Stick around Chck (I know I did). This forum needs people like you.

Yea, only 5? Everyone needs a truck to hall the project stuff, and trailer for the race car, then of course the race car, then the daily driver and the Porsche and don't forget the wife, she needs a daily driver and maybe a dog car, like for actually dog hauling.

You sold for a fantastic price. If you have patience you can get an S in the South Florida market for around 10K.

SR - his undercarriage and muffler probably have a better shine than my hood, and the rest of the maintenance had been commensurate. Note the custom muffler setup, steering wheel, 911 gauges, Bird center console, etc. The buyer got a very fair price on a fantastic car.
Chuck - I hope you hang around, I've enjoyed your contributions, BOL on your next project!

Bye, Chuck! I believe I played a small part in the value of your sold Boxster. Hope that stereo head unit worked out for you.

Best of luck going forward. Drop by and say Hi from time to time.

Dave
