Know anyone looking for a SE?
We just moved into a second place in RI, and it’s a block from the harbor. I’m going to roll the 986 into a boat and other things since it wasn’t even registered this past year. Simply no time.
I’ll get around to pics and listing it this weekend. PM me if you’d like some info. Some info in sig line. Cheers, Tim |
I would love to know what you're asking for it
|
Same as I'm thinking about selling mine

Had a boat before?? It will make the Box look CHEAP to take care of. :-)
What kind of boat?? A hole in the water, surrounded by wood/FG/Alum into which you pour money. I'm a long time sailor and now have a pontoon boat. It doesn't even have a bilge pump!!!! |
Boat:
Bust Out Another Thousand :) |
A Boston Whaler for around Narraganset bay. Maybe spend 15k. Trailer.
|
Good thing about a Whaler is there is always a buyer. I sold my Whaler 2 years ago and I had multiple offers immediately. Sold for cash the next morning. The kids were off to college and it just wasn't getting enough use and needed a new home.
As the buyer was driving away with it my wife asked me if I was glad to see it go. I wasn't. |
Instead of buying the boat you could have the same experience by getting in the shower with your clothes on and rip up $100 bills. The 2 best days of boat ownership are the day you buy it and the day you sell it!
Just kidding, couldn't resist piling on. I've never owned a boat but have wasted plenty of money on other hobbies. |
I just sold my 24 ft sailboat this year. It had been on the hard for the last 3 years. Sad but relieved not to have to keep paying storage fees. Trailer is the key. Then you can store at your house if not using.
Now I watch sailing videos on U-Tube wishing I had a boat again. Maybe I'll take up smoking instead Good luck selling the Box. Maybe you should wait till spring to sell, except that is when boats are priced high as well |
Skip the boat, and just buy the small plane.

Hi Timco and GTA,
I’m not planning on selling my 550 SE anytime soon, but just to let you know I paid 15.5k for mine in Feb 2017. 103k miles, maintenance records, excellent cosmetic condition, LN IMS, all other needed major maintenance items recently completed prior to purchase. I’ll replace the AOS for PM this winter and I’ve replaced one cooling fan thyrestor and done some other minor maintenance to bring it up to 100%. I would not let it go for less than 20 kUSD now. It would probably take a while to sell it at that price because it would need to go to someone who is specifically looking for a 550 SE and I would anticipate the need to advertise it outside normal channels. |
Good on ya!
I overpaid for mine.
No regrets. |

If you’re happy with your car purchase and your car brings satisfaction to you, you paid just the right price. |

Hey! Thanks. Just saw your posts. I’m so far behind with work and the east coast thing I haven’t even listed it yet. I’m at 142k and has a cool list of mods but some annoying issues. Could not run or drive any smoother or quieter. Can’t seem to upload pics to this site from phone. I’m not concerned with squeezing every last $100 out of it. More concerned with being reasonable.

The site won’t let me attach pics. Shoot me a PM and I’ll get an email to send them to. Asking 14,500. Take 12,500. When I list those will go up a bit.
This is what I sent a couple other members. Sorry for the delay in getting with you. I’ll send pics from my phone after I send this. Bought 5 years ago in Los Angels and it had 119k. Has like 141 now. It has never been outside overnight in the 5 years I’ve owned it. The last year its sat all year and been started weekly / bi-weekly. Drive it once a month. Reg is a year behind because I don’t have time to get a temp and the inspections and emissions and all that. I can get this done so it’s current. New: Michelin Pilot Sport tires Brakes / fluid Clutch (Pelican master kit with new DMF) CPS Both headlights new, factory Water pump Fuel pump Drivers trailing arm All 4 wheel bearings AOS CV inner / all 4 boots Pentofrost coolant Alternator / pulley Belt * I have most old parts from all projects Mods UD pulley Low temp stat Cat delete rear both LN IMS bearing SN on door and hood Oil filter adapter to filter all oil at start up and uses spin on filters Hawk pads and rotors Shift lever leak fix with new roller bearing and seal * I have most old parts to put to stock SE features Book says a few mm lower. I can’t verify that. Uses 987 air filter from factory Book said wider TB to get the few extra horses it’s supposed to have over an S 4mm spacers all the way around stock GT metallic silver, only 986 to come with a 911 color factory Wind screen between head rests Short shift lever Full cocoa brown leather wrap interior Special tips and bumper grill inserts Black S gauge faces with chrome rings around them Litronic xenon headlights work great, new. Has leveling arms on suspension. Has factory sub woofer on shelf behind seats. The bad. Couple tiny scratches. Door jambs can be sprayed for sure. CEL x 3. 1) Cat underperform forget which side. Saw this twice in 5 years. 2) Very slow leak detected in fuel vapor recovery. Saw this monthly when driving daily. 3) SAI under perform. Saw this more commonly. There was a thread where Jaeger cleaned the ports while the cats were off and problem solved. It’s not the pump or housing I was told when I had that looked at. Not original rims but I always really like the look Tiny bump or raised spot on leather on dash. It can be re-glued or fit but I’m not that daring and it’s not that noticeable. Clutch creek is noticeable after more spirited summer driving. I was told it’s to do with using the longer clutch pivot point stud that came with the master kit, which also changed engagement point from low to floor to near top of travel. Never pulled trans to fix that because it drives great and it’s not always there. I’d swap it back. Clutch has less than 5k on it. Feel free to throw out any questions. I don’t think I’m missing anything. That’s the car pretty much. Tim 801 (send me a PM) Sent from my iPad |
