Green plastic piece under the shift cables
Is there supposed to be a piece of green plastic under the shifter cables (where they attach to the shifter)? Is it important? Should I have one? Where can I get one?
Thanks Bob |
I had one, but I took it out when I put in a short shifter. I don't thing you need it. Most people remove it because the cables get caught or rub on it.

I removed mine when I put my short shifter in. With the green piece in, it rubbed the cable ends and kept popping them out of the retainers. I took the piece out, and everything works as it should now.

Perfect. I won't worry about it.

I’ve owned my 2003S since it was new. When I installed Ben006’s ball bearing shifter I saw that my car didn’t come with that green piece. The OEM shifter worked fine and Ben’s shifter works even better without that part!

Not to pile on, but I removed mine too when I changed to Ben's short shifter. It has worked fine with no problems at all.
