2004 Radio Replacement Potential

I know the Forum will have the answer to this question. I may have to replace the radio on my 04 Boxster S. Believe it or not the regular Bose system is fine for me since I just listen to FM or play cds. Are OEM replacement radios readily available (used) or do you need to get a new radio that looks good in the existing slot and looks like the original? Also are there any Forum members that have already replaced there 03-04 radio and might be interested in selling it? Thanks for the info.

also interested in this thread as I want to add the rear bose base to my 986 that has in door speakers but didn't come with the rear like my 2000 S had- is the plug still there or do I need a later model stereo like JPBJR needs? - if I need a different radio to use the rear speakers I will sell or trade the one I have if you are interested- I can get the model # tonight!

Be careful if you are looking at a CDR-23 which is what is in a 03/04. They have to be security coded in the DME and that requires a PSTII pr PWIS.

If you don't have BOSE in the car, you don't want a rear Bose speaker. The Bose system uses special speakers. You should look at a rear speaker kit that adds 2 speakers behind each seat and works remarkably well with a basic radio and no amp
