Clutch Engagement when hot
I have a 99 Boxster with 64k miles and noticed that after driving for long periods the clutch doesn't engage smoothly when starting from a stop. When first staring off for the day the clutch seems smooth in 1st gear no jerkyness. I'm wondering is this is a sign that the clutch is worn or somthing to do with the manual transmission itself? Again, it's notciable when it's hot. The car is only street driven and not very hard. Any ideas are welcomed - thanks

By the way, if you made it to 64k miles without previously replacing your clutch - then all I have to say is "WOW". |
Thanks for the reply denverpete. I was afraid to hear the clutch is the culpret. Is this an expensive job by the dealer or would you recommend a DIY? I saw some prices for the clutch kit online - somewhere around $350-$400. If it's a common wearout item, I probably should learn to replace it myself. I just finished the coolant expansion tank replacement 2 weeks ago; that was fun. Any suggestions? thanks again
