Hopefully, you have fixed your problem by now (being that it's almost a month later), but I just recently fixed my lock too. The paperclip thing had me troubled as well, but I found out that the paperclip needs to slide in very deep. I would say about 1-1.5 inches. Plus, I was expecting a click of some sort, but there is none. The lock will literally fall off once you reached the unlocking mechanism. The bentely manual states:

1. Turn key in 1 position
2. Insert straightened paperclip


Just insert that paper clip far down until the lock and key falls off. Hope this helps.
