Hard start with low fuel?

Had a search around but didn't find my answer. Why does my box not like to start with its usual ease when the tank is near empty? No problem any other time...

Have you tried loosening the gas cap when the fuel is low?

I'll give it a try before next fill up. So tank breather/evap system issues?

Okay, I'm pretty sure it's not breather issues. No difference with filler and flap open before starting on near empty. I'm pretty sure I'm experiencing fuel pressure bleed-down when the fuel level is near the point when the low fuel light will come on.

Did you ever find a resolution to this? Having a similar problem when I’m below a half tank.

Nope. When it’s cold and close to the low fuel light coming on I have to crank it for a few seconds. Once warm it’s fine.

Run a few tests, do a fuel pressure test then a fuel pump test. Here are two videos on how to do it at home.

Another thought: The problem could be battery voltage related. Check the battery voltage at cold start vs hot start at the battery and at the starter.

Thanks for the response Mr Stone. Hadn’t thought of that. Absolutely no trouble from cold with anything more than about an 1/8th of a tank of fuel. Below that and it needs to crank a second or two to start.

Waiting on a package from LN to get my water pump issue out of the way. Then I’ll get back to this.
