Plastic Bin Accessory for trunk?

A recent issue of the official porsche magazinelisted among the Boxster accessories a hard plastic bin that fit in the front trunk. Seems like a great idea to prevent spills and stains from groceries. I checked the local dealer, who had no knowledge of it. Nothing on the Posche website.
Does anyone remember seeing this? Or know how to order it? I'm assuming its available for the 987.

Your dealer is lame.

Anybody have a review of the liner? Does it fit flush in the front compartment or does it rattle? $165 seems quite expensive, but I suppose if it helps keep the compartment cleaner it's worthwhile..

Looks like tupperware to me. Thats alot of money for that piece of plastic, oh wait it did say Porsche right.

KronixSpeed 07-19-2006 12:43 PM

that's actually very cool. you wouldnt ruin the inside trunk carpet. i'd buy one.

KronixSpeed 07-19-2006 12:45 PM

but when you think about it, why not just make it. better yet buy a nice black basket. for those name branded people, get a porsche sticker!!!

I've found that a standard laundry basket fits in the frunk pretty-damned well.

I have both the front trunk and the back trunk liners. They were a Christmas to me/by me "from" my awesome wife! She was just as surprised as I was!! :)

They fit perfectly, and look very nice. I received a few nice comments about them this past weekend at the Concours I participated in.

Where did you pick up the back trunk liner? I'd be willing to shell out the extra $$$ if the liners fit perfectly, leaving no unusable space between the liner and the actual trunk. Otherwise I'd just use a laundry basket. Maybe a third party will step up and produce the liners for 1/2 the price without the Porsche script.

The one in the link is for 2005+ cars with no spare. A liner like that for an earlier year car would leave dead space outside the box.

Hey, I found that out when i was taking my laundry to the cleaners. :p

It doesn't fit anymore anyhow--the Reus amp in the bottom takes up too much room.

The back trunk liner I have is for the 987. And it fits prefectly! I got it from Suncoast Porsche. Call them. They have it. It is in the 987 Tequipment book, near the back. It is not listed on the Porsche web site though.

Send me a PM and I'll get the part number when I return home on Friday. I think it was about $120.

Hey thanks for the link. Just our of curiousity, what's the long red bar thingie in the trunk pictured? I don't have one in my trunk

bmussatti 07-25-2006 09:17 AM

I don't have that red bar thingie in my trunk either. Maybe it is a reflector for road-side hazard warning.

I found my receipt from Sun Coast Porsche:

997 044 000 54 Front Trunk Liner $162.06
987 044 000 05 Rear Trunk Liner $90.78
987 044 000 00 Car Cover $256.34
