Hi folks does anyone have a trick for repairing wires into block connectors, hopefully the image comes out, it is the plug for the alarm and tilt sensor it's gone rotten with the water run of from the bonnet etc, and seems to be screwing up the alarm and making the electrics flicker.
I can't just connect the wires without taking to bits the alarm module, so I need to fix the plug, can I buy new inserts for the original block connector solder the wires on, then press the inserts back into the plug/connector? Or is there a better way. I don't think I can solder the wires directly into the plug because the original inserts are a bit rotten.
This is on my 01 986 2.7 L

You will have to remove old pins with a removal tool or (hopefully) a paper clip. Once you have new pins, you will crimp wires (don't solder).

The problem with soldering these wires is that with vibration, the solder connection can weaken and break as its not supported mechanically.

I think the contact bush is why you need for the plug socket.

Nice one , wasn't looking forward to soldering anything and didn't even think about a part number, thanks that's a lot of help.

Respectfully disagree on Soldering

It is the best connection you can have, crimp and then solder and it will never turn loose....if your car has enough vibration to cause a good solder joint to come apart then you probably did not survive the drive that caused it.

I'm not in the UK but near me is a place called Terminal Supply and they sell everything for household or automotive electrical down to harness making supplies, connectors etc. Maybe there is a place like that near you or you can order online.

I'm getting there, I've wriggled one of the contact bushes out of the block now, so I will have a go at getting one of the shelf , nice to know what it's called now and that there available.

Mine seems to be the same. The wires have completely detached, resulting in the 'double beep'.

Does anyone know which wires go to which terminal?
