Changing gear lube

Hello Everyone

I have a 2001 Base Boxster with 104000 miles on it.

In the mornings I can feel notchiness from the shifter when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear.

Once the fluid warms up, this goes away.

I would like to change out the gearbox lube with Motul300

In researching this procedure I found one must remove the rear cover and diagonal support braces to get access to the transmission.

Will this mess up my rear alignment?

If so is there any way to prevent this from occurring?

Thanks for any advice

Mike

Using stands instead of ramps will minimize throwing the alignment off, I would still get it checked. Some people also drill a hole in the plate instead of removing it. I would caution you against using non-OEM fluid, most people do not like the results they get.

Advice

Thanks for your advice Rick

I have stands and will do my best to place witness mark where I can.

Yes I was warned about going off of Porsche Spec fluid

Anyone know where to buy the Porsche Approved gear-oil in the Detroit area?

Thanks

Mike

Try a Porsche dealer or Pelican for mail order

I found 3 liters on Ebay for $99 shipped.
