Fault Code P1130
 

Hello folks, I keep getting this fault code P1130. I pulled out my sensor and cleaned it but after couple weeks the code keeps coming back. Can you tell me what is causing this to keep going off and how can I 'cure' this problem?

What year is the car?

2001 S model

On that year, P1130 indicates:


1. Fuel pressure too high
2. Fuel injector is leaking
3. EVAP purge valve is stuck open

JFP, is the EVAP purge valve the one that connects the throttle body to the charcoal canister?

If so, by blowing air into the tube at the throttle body end of the hose with the valve energized (12V), may clear the valve from carbon debris.

You kindly recommended this trick a couple of years ago and the CEL has not returned..

How do I go about checking for the problem?

Does anyone know if driving the car still with the fault code P1130 will damage the car ? I cleaned the MAF sensor and that did not solve the issue...still not sure what the problem is.

Did you try blowing out the Evap Purge Valve as suggested above?

Check your fuel pressure, scan the car for fuel trim values looking for an over rich condition.

I'm having difficulty finding a picture that shows this connection (Evap Purge Valve). Does anyone have one?

How do I do this? If problem comes up what needs to be repaired ? Is this a serious issue that I should stop driving car or whats the result if I keep driving

An old PIWISII will effectively test the system and report your issue in roughly 5min. Its FREE also (at the dealer). You can also ask your service center to quote for repairs (also free). That could give you a good idea to where to begin with this - if you DIY

Fuel trims require the use of a Porsche specific scan tool (PST II, PIWIS, Durametric system) and will tell you the exact air/fuel rations for each bank. The one that comes up out of spec tells you what kind of issue (overly rich/overly lean) you have and where it is.

You say that its FREE at the Porsche dealer?? How... man those guys do nothing for free it seems around here.

At Porsche Canada, they will scan your car, diagnose, quote for the repairs and prep it for winter. Hang on, not finish; they will install your hard roof for you and give your Porsche car a fresh clean. All that for $200 (no joke man). Not free but pretty damn close!

ps: yea we get our car scanned/diag free here. At the end of the day it always just make sense to let them carry out the work (they are expert at sales lolll) and they know that. Parts are same price and they are 3x faster than my 'economical' Indy here.

What I like most from these chaps is they are so down to earth. Some part one would recommend changing immediately, Porsche will tell you "pffff by the time the world ends and the car disintegrate, you'll still have a bit of life in that part - what's the point anyway"

In contrast, my 'economical' indy would say "Oh no no no, I can't let you leave my shop until you've changed this part. You'll kill yourself, the car will explode and debris from it will kill the pregnant women across the street in-the-face". I love you too much to let all of this this happen?"

DIY is the best I understand but I know nothing about Porsche cars. Good god have you seen their part# list?! LOL
