Question for Savannah color interior owners

Picked up a nice Ocean/Savannah 99 back in October. Factory head unit was replaced with Alpine UTE-52. Head unit was great, except lighting was blue and could not be changed. Display was fine with top down and could see with no issues. Blue lighting was bothering me so I switched to Kenwood KMM-515bt, same features but with adjustable lighting. Well, I've tried every color and the glare from the front passenger seat is just too much on the face plate of the Kenwood unit. I wanted to know if anyone mounted their head unit in the lower cd storage area to reduce the glare and if it worked?

Why don't you put a matte screen protector on it to cut the glare?

I have the Savannah interior and honestly after looking at most of the aftermarket options I decided to stay with the factory unit for now. I just installed an AUX input to play music from my Iphone. All the overly colorful displays just aren't my thing.
