I was so angry I took an axe to my car today...

....to remove the driveshaft axle. :D:D That sucker did not want to come out! Taped some wood to it, sprayed with PB Blaster, and hammered away. Regular hammer had no effect.

The "Get me a bigger hammer" approach...I love it. :D

Bigger is better. Technically, I think that is a splitting maul. ;)

Why all this work?

san rensho 06-10-2017 11:41 AM

Grease everything well when you put it back together. Including the splines and the threads. Then next time, and hopefully there will not be a next time, that you go back in there it will come apart very easily.

I was picturing horrible things while this thread was loading.
Glad to see you found the right tool for the job! ;)

Fascinating pic. Man did I laugh... that little skinny axle...

thx 4uploading!

keep the axe (splitting maul) handy; you will probably need it to get the cv off.

I expected an axe sticking out of the side of a car when I opened this thread.

For one little ol' torn CV boot. Replaced both boots and the transmission mount while I was there.
