Something strange today
My Boxster had not been driven in a week, so as I walked up to it today I pressed the unlock button the fob....the light blinked but nothing. I stood right by the door and nothing after several attempts I thought something must have run the battery down. I reverted to the physical effort of actually putting the key in the door and unlocked ity the old fashioned way, got in the car put the key in and it started right up ?
After driving it for half an hour I parked and got out, pressed the button on the fob and it locked....worked as normal after that ?? Go figure |
Pretty sure I've read this is normal, after a week or so it goes to sleep and requires a key turn to re-enable the remote central locking again.

It's after 5 days of inactivity according to my manual.

+3 on the this.

If this is the first time you are seeing this, congratulations! You must be driving your Boxster a lot! The car turns off the remote receiving function after 5 days to conserve power. As others have said, just use the key in the door and start the car and it resets the 5 day timer. The only other thing that can cause that is a leaky muffler bearing. :) Bill |
I've read you need to put the key in the door and lock and unlock it 3 times to awaken the alarm/ecu is this not the case? Just simply unlock the vehicle.

Thanks Folks
You guys are the best source there is
