Different styles of oil filter elements?
 

I'm in the middle of my first oil change so don't have a pic. The oil filter housing looks stock but when I pulled it off I see that the oil filter is different than the Mahle ones I got from Pelican. The installed filter doesn't have flat ends. It has male protrusions on each end. The housing is flat on the bottom ie nothing to seat the filter on. Its a good thing I bought a new housing too. Anybody seen this? The filter says South Korea on the bottom!

ps drain plug is looking stripped. It came out without issue. I hope I can get it out next time!
