Locked out of Boxster, any suggestions?
My Boxster has been sitting for a few days - and apparently the car disables the remote function to save battery - however my key does not work to manually open the door.
Is there anyway to reenable the remote function? I can get a coat hanger through the driver's window seals but it won't reach the unlock. The seals on the passenger side are too tight to squeeze anything through and I don't want to risk any damage. |
Call AAA, they may be able to get in
does your key not turn in the door lock? |
I thought I had a similar event when my immobilizer flooded. I hadn't used my key to open the door in a decade. And when I put the key in the keyhole it wouldn't rotate. Turns out the lock had gotten stiff from age and lack of use. Turning it more forcefully got door open

Maybe try shooting a good graphite lube (or worst case WD40) in there and then insert and remove the key a few times to loosen up the tumblers.
Wondering if disconnecting and reconnecting the battery might reset the remote system. If you can use the frunk emergency release that might do it for you. (clutching at straws here, but that's what I would try)... |
The shaft on the key lock is cheap pot metal and breaks easy. So you gotta break on somehow

I bent a hook on the end of the coat hanger, slipped it passed the seal of the drivers side window, hooked the door latch and pulled. The door popped open.
My lock was spinning when I put the key in and my remote didn't work. I odered the lock part for a jetta and swapped the broken piece out. Been fine since. Hopefully one day I can get my remote working. |
