Turbo in the Snow

Maybe someone with a journalistic background in the car business can answer this question for me. Everytime I pick up Christphorus, Road and Track, etc. whenever they show a new German offering from the big 3...they always show it driving in the snow? Seems like every spy photo I see is a turbo or other high end model sloshing around in the powder. What gives? I know is snows a lot in Deutchland, but c'mon. Inquiring minds want to know.

Just a guess, but I remember watching a TV show once and they said a lot of car companies do their stability control, traction control, ABS etc testing somewhere (I think) in Iceland, just prior to the car being officially launched. So I think you'll find those 'spy' photos aren't actually in Germany. Plus it's a good place to see the car without all the camoflauge gear on it.

Any one else know more about this or am I going imagining things?

Yeah, what is that about? I was convinced a 911 was awesome in the snow until I was age 25 and owned one...
Every test and spy photo showed some ridiculous car driving in Europe over the tundra. Whatever.
Thank god for PSM. It gets me to work when my wife has the SUV.
