Thumbs up F1 Usgp

Did anybody else make it to the USGP this weekend?

After last year I was a bit lenient on going, but my friend did one of those, "Hey, I ordered us USGP tickets today, you still wanted to go, right?" a while back so I was in. Anyway, I had an absolute blast.

The thing I was most surprised with was how entertaining the Porsche Michelin Supercup races were.

The F1 race was over after qualifying when Schumi had about a one second cushion for the pole. The most exciting part of the USGP was about 10 seconds in when there was a big time wreck in turn one directly in front of where we were sitting. One of the BMWs rolled a few times (which was totally amazing to see in person). However, the wreck knocked out both McLarens and Scott Speed (the only American driver). After that the Ferraris pulled away.

Also, there were a bunch of cool cars around town as well. I saw a F40, 959 and a Noble M12GTO to name a few

I was there. Drove my Box up from Buffalo.

I saw an Ultima GTR that was pretty cool.

I wish they had a Porsche lot the way they have the Ferrari club lot there.

Yea, I saw a bunch of Porsches in the lots, would have been cool to get them all together. I would have liked at better look at the 959 too.

As far as the number of people there, I think the attendance was well over 100,000. The problem with Indy is that the race track holds something like 300,000 and the best seats for the 500 (right on the home stretch) are the worst seats for the F1 road course. If you are sitting near the Start/Finish line there you will miss 95% of the race.

Next year we are thinking about driving up to the Canadian GP.

For the Renault fans:

I have been to the US GP a couple of times but I have been to every Canadian GP for the last 10 years, Montreal is a great town and the Grand Prix is always awesome.
I usually sit in the casino hairpin around section 21.

Actually, I disagree. No matter where you sit you can't see much. At least in my seats (right across from the podium) I have a good view of the pit lane and the jumbotron is right across the track. We're also under cover in case it rains.

Usually I like to wander the circuit so for me it doesn't make any sense to spend extra money on the Northwest Vista or Penthouse seats.

I use to go to the races here and abroad. But F1 has become sooooo boring since the 1980's. The cars are all wrong, the drivers can't pass like they did 20 years agao. I doubt I'll spend the money to visit a race unless I'm already there or within short driving distance.

here's a good video, and they say Americans can't turn witout crashing.
